It's NAIDOC week. NAIDOC (National Aboriginal and Islanders Day Observance Committee) Week is an Australian observance lasting from the first Sunday in July until the following Sunday, this year 7-14 July.
NAIDOC Week celebrates the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The week is celebrated not just in the Indigenous communities but also in increasing numbers of government agencies, schools, local councils and workplaces. Coburg FC participated in the VFL's NAIDOC round in their match against Essendon on Sunday and are making their NAIDOC design jumpers available for purchase CLICK HERE
Within our own club we have an individual who has been recognised as a champion of diversity, social justice and equality, the partner of Women's Over 35 player Ebony O'Dwyer, Dean Duncan has been named National NAIDOC person of the year in 2019.
Dean was the recipient of the award at the National Awards Ceremony in Canberra on Saturday. Big congratulations to Dean.
