It's NAIDOC week. NAIDOC (National Aboriginal and Islanders Day Observance Committee) Week is an Australian observance lasting from the first Sunday in July until the following Sunday, this year 7-14 July.

NAIDOC Week celebrates the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The week is celebrated not just in the Indigenous communities but also in increasing numbers of government agencies, schools, local councils and workplaces. Coburg FC participated in the VFL's NAIDOC round in their match against Essendon on Sunday and are making their NAIDOC design jumpers available for purchase CLICK HERE

Within our own club we have an individual who has been recognised as a champion of diversity, social justice and equality, the partner of Women's Over 35 player Ebony O'Dwyer, Dean Duncan has been named National NAIDOC person of the year in 2019.

Dean was the recipient of the award at the National Awards Ceremony in Canberra on Saturday. Big congratulations to Dean.

Paul Pitman To Overhaul Milestone

9/7/2019

Paul Pitman, Life Member, Hall of Famer, former President, currently Coach of the Over 45's...the list goes on. He has accomplished plenty but now is he is on the verge of breaking a long standing record, that of the club games record.

Currently an equally famous member of our club Allan "Tappa" Mathews holds the record with 179 club games under his belt. Tappa played his last and 179th game in Round 4 on the 29th of May 2011 and has held this record since then.

On Sunday, barring some mishap this week, Paul Pitman, will don the number 17 and take to the field to break Allan Mathews long standing record and become the holder of the most games played.

Given that the Over 45's are playing away this Sunday the club plans to celebrate this significant milestone in Round 9, when the Paul's chargers take on Chirnside Park at Coburg City Oval.
