Ascot Vale threw everything but the kitchen sink at Coburg however, the Lions stood tall with a big last quarter where they wrestled back the lead and locked down a tiring Ascot Vale inside their 50 metre arc to run out winners.
What could have been? Coburg kicked 5.17, had they kicked straighter they might have found themselves finishing up in fourth position and on their way to their first finals series in seven years. In the end it was just a great win and a great way to cap off a dramatically improved season.
The Reserves crushed Ascot Vale by 88-points to farewell Jamie Arnold in his final game as Coach. They dominated for large periods of the match and never gave Ascot Vale a sniff.
A sweep of victories would have been nice but unfortunately the Legends couldn't cap off the season with a victory going down by 67-points.
