Two All-Australians Named From Coburg

14/10/2016

While Queensland teams dominated the 2016 AFL Masters Carnival held on the Gold Coast from 2-8 October, there were two individuals representing Coburg Superules who were capped as All Australians, Ray Ransome (Over 60s) and Mark Gillman (Over 35s/40s).

Both joined this elite group when they were named at the official post-carnival presentation held at Sea World. It was a second cap for Ray Ransome who was also named in the Over 55s All Australian team in 2013. To see the honour roll for All Australians who have represented our Club,

Serafino Marinelli and Ben Matricardi also enjoyed team success with Vic Metro taking out the Over 50s Division 2 group.

Paul Pitman and Ray Ransome featured in the Over 50s Division 1 and Over 60s groups respectively who both finished runners up in their group.

Craig McKay, Paul Turner and Mark Gillman played in the highly competitive Over 35/40s Division 1 group and despite finishing third had some excellent highlights including an 8-goal victory over Tasmania in the last round.

Although not represented by Coburg Superules players, Vic Metro also won the Over 45's Division 2.

For the first time ever there were Masters Womens teams competing at the carnival which is very much in line with the AFL's vision on developing womens football.

There was an unofficial announcement that next seasons carnival will be held in the Geelong. Further information will follow as it becomes available.

Well done and congratulations to all those who represented Coburg Superules Football Club at the carnival and in particular to Razor and Gilly.
